Jean-Pierre Brown
Jean-Pierre studied Interdisciplinary Media at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Canada and completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts with Distinction at Concordia University in Montréal.
Jean-Pierre Brown is an artist living and working in Bangkok, Thailand.
Jean-Pierre’s passion is to apply traditional art making practices and then disassemble and reconfigure these in new and unique ways to create contemporary imagery. He creates painterly collages with layers digital imagery with hand-drawn marks and brushstrokes. Technological innovations inform his creative processes. Exploring the emerging landscape of new technologies frees his art-making processes from traditional aesthetic expectations and physical material limitations. With a taste for the new, he makes a point of learning historical processes such as analogue photography, print making as well as hand giliding and paper folding and paper cutting.
The major topic that interests him is the rise and collapse of civilizations and he illustrates in his work with images of the following:
· Divine perfection and the beastly failures
· Fecund and fertile life forces
· Mundane reminders of our own mortality
· Chaos and affinity
